Set in medieval Kerala, the film narrates the legendary story of Unniyarcha, a brave and skilled martial arts warrior from the illustrious Puthooram family. Raised alongside her valiant brother Aromal Chekavar and cousin Chandu, Unniyarcha excels in Kalarippayattu from childhood. As she grows into a strong-willed woman, she falls in love with and marries Kunjiraman of Attummanammel. Meanwhile, Chandu harbors deep resentment and jealousy towards the Puthooram household, particularly after being rejected in marriage.
A conflict arises between local chieftains, leading to an Ankam (martial duel) where Aromal Chekavar steps up as the champion representing Unniyakan against the fierce warrior Aringodar. Chandu serves as Aromal's second during the duel. Despite Aromal's martial brilliance and victory over Aringodar, the treacherous Chandu secretly sabotages Aromal's weapon and fatally stabs him while he rests after the battle. Before succumbing to his injuries, Aromal reveals Chandu's deception to his family.
Heartbroken by her brother's tragic death, Unniyarcha unties her hair and takes a solemn oath never to bind it until Chandu's betrayal is avenged. She raises her son Aromalunni with rigorous Kalarippayattu training, instilling in him the duty to restore honor to their lineage. Years later, a grown Aromalunni challenges Chandu, ultimately defeating the traitor and fulfilling Unniyarcha's vow of vengeance.
