After the untimely demise of his wife Ammini, Keshavankutty remarries Sarojam to ensure his six-year-old son, Gopi, receives maternal care. However, Sarojam shows coldness and hostility toward young Gopi, prompting Keshavankutty's compassionate elder sister to take the boy to live and grow up at their ancestral family home (Tharavadu) in Vallikkunnu. Years later, Gopi grows into a dutiful, hard-working young man who manages the family's agricultural estate with immense dedication and love for his roots.
Meanwhile, Sarojam's biological son, Suresh, grows up spoiled and irresponsible in the city. Faking an engineering education in Madras, Suresh leads a reckless lifestyle surrounded by deceitful friends and opportunistic women. To secure wealth and maintain his facade, Suresh uses a paid actor to pose as his respectable father, tricking a wealthy family into marrying off their daughter Radhamani to him. Simultaneously, Suresh continuously extracts money from Sarojam under false pretenses, eventually conspiring to sell off the ancestral Tharavadu property to cover his mounting debts.
When Suresh's fraudulent schemes, secret debt burdens, and disrespect toward his mother surface, Gopi steps in to protect the family's honor and property. In a dramatic confrontation, Suresh's misdeeds are exposed before everyone. Sarojam realizes her grave error in favoring her arrogant biological son while marginalizing the righteous Gopi. Filled with remorse, Sarojam seeks forgiveness, and the family reunites under the protective, unifying values of the ancestral home.
