Vasanthi, a young college student, is engaged to Venu. On a train journey, Vasanthi meets Govindan Nair, a young officer, and in a moment of emotional vulnerability, an intimacy occurs between them. Soon after, Venu's family abruptly cancels the marriage proposal through a letter. Devastated, Vasanthi discovers she is pregnant. To protect the family's honor, her father Kesavan Kutty isolates her at their rural estate bungalow. Vasanthi gives birth to a baby girl, but Kesavan Kutty secretly abandons the newborn near a potter's house. The child is rescued and raised by the humble potter family, who name her Thara.
Years pass, and Vasanthi, burdened by her past, later marries a respectable lawyer, believing her child was stillborn. Thara grows up into a virtuous young woman in the village. By chance, Venu meets Thara and falls deeply in love with her, unaware of her origin or her connection to his past bride-to-be. Meanwhile, evil forces in the village attempt to exploit Thara, leading her to seek refuge at a local Rescue Home run for destitute women, where Vasanthi happens to serve as the Matron.
During the annual day celebration at the Rescue Home, all key figures—Kesavan Kutty, Govindan Nair, Venu, Vasanthi, and Thara—converge under one roof. Truths regarding Thara's parentage and the circumstances of her birth are dramatically unveiled. Realizing the consequences of past prejudices, the families seek forgiveness, leading to a joyful reconciliation as Venu marries Thara with everyone's blessings.
