The film revolves around a wealthy joint family led by its patriarch, Raghavendra Rao, and his wife, Rajyalakshmi, who have four sons and a daughter. The eldest son, Pattabhi, and his wife, Janaki, responsibly handle the household finances and agricultural work. The second son, Prakasam, is heavily involved in village politics, wasting both time and money, while his shrewish wife, Jaya, contributes nothing to the family's welfare. The third son, Pratap, is a bodybuilder obsessed with his diet and fitness, completely neglecting his wife, Rama. The youngest son, Prasad, studies in the city, where he falls in love with Saroja, a beautiful doctor. Their only daughter, Chandra, is married to Suryam, an unemployed, lazy man who suffers from night blindness and lives off his in-laws. To make matters worse, his mother, Durgamma, is a frequent guest who constantly creates rifts within the household.
Pattabhi and Janaki’s kindness is mistaken for weakness, allowing the rest of the family to exploit them. Prasad marries Saroja and brings her home amidst this chaos of financial extravagance, constant arguments, and deceit. Recognizing the toxicity, Prasad and Saroja devise a clever ruse to force a family partition. The rest of the story follows their efforts to teach the siblings a lesson, ultimately mending the broken relationships and reuniting the family.
